Zweck des Vereins ist

• die Förderung von Wissenschaft und Forschung auf dem Gebiet der Bahntechnologie, des Bahnbetriebs, des öffentlichen Personenverkehrs, des Gütertransportwesens bzw. der Logistik;
• die Förderung der Erziehung, Volks- und Berufsbildung auf dem Gebiet der Verkehrswissenschaften
